Hermit Thrush
This little hermit kept close to the forest trail! Equal parts cautious and curious, it was tough to get a decent photo.
Orchard Orbweaver
Spider warning! A particularly neat green and yellow one, but I haven’t set a preview image just in case.
I hope one won’t be pulled and placed automatically.
Eastern Tiger Swallowtail
When I think of butterflies, this is one of the two I immediately think of! What beautiful wings!
Red-backed Salamander
Critter rescue alert! This salamander was found covered in dust and hair in the library. Don’t know how it got in or in that state, but after a thorough cleaning and moistening, it was released back into the wild!
Common Grackle
Iridescent and magnetically sensitive! What incredible talents on this bird!
White-tailed Deer
A common deer of North America that I really should have photographed and added here sooner but! I did not!
Now, however, is the time!
Japanese Woodpecker
This vibrantly colored woodpecker was a fantastic find to end my trip to japan!
Red-billed Leiothrix
A bolt of red and yellow dashing throw the reeds! I had never even heard of this bird before spotting it but wow! It’s so striking!
Black Kite
Been a while since I posted a “trying to ID a distant bird” post, hasn’t it?
Well, time to fly that kite again!
Oriental Turtle Dove
Another fancy looking dove! What a fine collar and spectacular wings!
Large-billed Crow
What a friendly looking face! These crows seemed to enjoy the parks of Tokyo!
Daurian Redstart
An ephemeral bird (to me) that flew out, was photographed, then I did not see again for the rest of the trip!
I hope she was having a good day.
