Oriental Turtle Dove
Another fancy looking dove! What a fine collar and spectacular wings!
Large-billed Crow
What a friendly looking face! These crows seemed to enjoy the parks of Tokyo!
Daurian Redstart
An ephemeral bird (to me) that flew out, was photographed, then I did not see again for the rest of the trip!
I hope she was having a good day.
White-cheeked Starling
Brave birds that don’t mind getting close to people if they can get a snack out of it!
I didn’t feed them of course, but you can see the bug in the mouth of the first bird, which was foraging right by a bench!
White Wagtail
Would you be surprised if I said this bird is one that’s important to see in motion? Definitely look up a video!
Warbling White-eye
An adorable little bird that unfortunately evaded me most of my trip to Japan, but those pictures I do have are very cute!
Reed Bunting
Small birds perched in the reeds of Ueno Park! Look at their legs stretch from reed to reed!
Oriental Greenfinch
A finch that is green! Well, green-ish. A yellow-green. Chartreuse? Mmm… not quite right.
Regardless, a very finch-shaped bird.
Northern Pintail
More ducks of Ueno park! They seem to be quite comfy sitting on those boats.
Long-tailed Tit
This dashing little bird was quite literally dashing so much it was a struggle to get this many clear pictures!
Green-winged Teal
Yes, there’s no wing in this first image, but if you check the post, you’ll see a tiiiiiiiny bit of green on the wing!
And I think there’s some teal on the side of its head starting to come in… probably.
Great Cormorant
It was nest building time for these birds!
We got to watch them rip off tree branches and fly off with them!
Eurasian Coot
A handful of coots hanging out in Ueno Park, Tokyo! Look at this one splashing in the lake!
