Willet
One of my favorite things about taking bird photos is that it helps me learn a lot about just how many different species there are and the subtle differences (or similarities!) between them. With birds like the Willet here, I had no idea at the time that I was looking at a different species of bird compared to something like a large sandpiper (which I suppose it technically is) or a less ruddy looking Turnstone. My father may have mentioned that it might be a Willet (or something different from the other sandpipers) or perhaps I just saw I had a clear shot and snap! Photographed to be formally ID’d later. It’s cases like these which are exactly why I started photographing birds!
I haven’t said much about this bird in particular though, have I? I think it looks a little grumpy. What about you?
