Semipalmated Plover

Not to be confused with the Semipalmated Sandpiper which is rather easy because, unlike sanderlings, the Semipalmated Sandpiper and the Semipalmated Plover don’t look alike. Huh.

Anyway, I love these guys and how their face is a little like an inverted piping plover’s. These guys have a white headband with a black cap and mask, the piping plovers have a white head with a black headband. I don’t know, they’re like poetry, they rhyme.

… Anyway (x2), if you’ve been reading along as they come out (or in chronological order), you probably recognize the sight of this landscape it’s in! This was a little saltwater pool by some rocks that fills up at hide tide and all the different plovers and sandpipers were hanging out nearby. It was really fun snapping pictures and trying to make sure I got every feather pattern there and then a lot of fun again after sorting them and determining which ones are which!
