Rock Squirrel

I’m sure far too many park visitors feed these little guys. They would often get very close to tables and just stare at anyone sitting, begging for food.

This first one I saw on a particularly brisk day and they did not look happy. And, unless I’m wrong, I think their eye is injured? There’s a little notch.

The third image is one who was definitely trying to convince me to give them food in exchange for posing. I did not feed it, however.

But the last image? I particularly like it. This was at the end of my trip and to see a squirrel sitting on the edge of the rock just… taking in the Grand Canyon… it was one of those “kinship with nature” kind of moments. That squirrel lives there and they were still taking in the grandeur of it all. Or that’s what I like to think, anyway.
