Red-eared Slider

A turtle! Though the color is a bit muted, you can see the “red ear” that gives the turtle its name! This is actually an invasive species in Singapore, and in fact is the most invasive turtle species in the world, owing in part to how it is a popular pet!

Your humble librarian grew up with a rescued one of these. Turtles don’t make for great pets and require a good bit of space and maintenance! They’re not an animal to take as a pet lightly.
