Red Crossbill

One of the last novel birds I photographed in Acadia before the end of the trip!

This one, I saw a bird up on top of a tree then flutter down out of sight. It was late, we hadn’t seen much on that trail, and honestly its chipping reminded me of a sparrow so I expected to just see another familiar face. However! I was met with a new creature! This crossbill! This little anecdote is basically why I try to photograph whatever bird I spot, even if it’s not an ideal photo! I’m not good enough by ear or with my naked eye to appraise what’s new and what isn’t! So I photograph them all!
