Green Heron
This bird was thoroughly undisturbed by nearby people. I actually almost didn’t notice them at first; they were quietly picking through some shrubs while we were all looking the other way. I turn around and it’s just strutting across the path picking at the ground occasionally!
After a few seconds, it moved on and went back into the underbrush. If I had thought a little faster I would’ve tried to get close to the ground to get a shot from closer to eye level, but alas.
You know, there’s Blue Herons and Green Herons… what do you imagine a Red Heron would be like? A Violet Heron? Evolution, get on that!
