Barred Owl

A beautiful barred owl sighting! Not once, but twice! Both times at Sieur de Monts in Acadia National Park!
On the first day, a very kind park ranger took us to a place where the owl was last seen, seems a lot of people were coming to look for it! The last two pictures were the results from that day. It was a pretty good sighting, but also pretty far away and with lots of branches and leaves between us. It looked like it caught something in that last image, but sadly we were too far to be able to tell what!
On another day, however, I ended up going back around dawn and that’s when I got the rest of the photos! On that day, we tracked down the owl based on the alert sounds from other birds! It was a lot of fun using birdcalls to find a different bird that they were warning each other about!
