Eastern Pondhawk Dragonfly

A freshly molted dragonfly leaving its larval exoskeleton behind!

This really cool sight was on the side of the trail at Jordan Pond in Acadia National Park! I only have the one photo because, unfortunately, the trail was very busy and with this bug’s placement it was hard to get a photo without blocking the path for other people!

How cool is this though? Look at all that wing texture and the semi-translucent body! I wonder how long this one hung out there before it was ready to fly off?
