Pileated Woodpecker

This striking woodpecker was one of the last birds we saw on a long walk at a park! On our way out, one of us spotted him waaaaaay high up in the trees and we watched him slowly… slooooooooooowly make his way down to almost ground level! Once he was there, he ventured out onto a branch and ate those pods! In one picture you can actually see one between his beak!
Unfortunately, there was always at least one small branch between us and him, so no perfectly clear shots, but I’m very happy with the overall images! Such sharpness! Look at those talons! Those eyes! Very nice bird!
